Why Families Use StudentGigs

Half the Cost

The average gig on StudentGigs costs $25. That's roughly half what you'd pay a private coach, tutor, or handyman.

They're From Your Neighborhood

These are students who go to the local schools, play on the local teams, and live nearby. You're investing in your own community.

Safety Is Built In

Background screening on all adult users. For students under 18, their parent approves every job and sees all messages. All communication stays in the app.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?
Posting is free. Students set their own rates — most charge $15-35/hr. If a student lists a gig at $20, the neighbor pays $24 and the student gets the full $20. The small service fee covers payment processing and platform support. You always see the total price before you book. Students never pay anything. If a gig pays $20, the student takes home $20. Period.
How do ratings and reviews work?
After each gig, both sides can leave a rating and short review. Reviews should focus on the work and remain respectful. You can report any review for moderation.
What tasks are not allowed?
Anything unsafe or age-restricted: power tools, ladders above step height, driving, hazardous chemicals, heavy machinery, handling cash drops, or entering dangerous areas.
How far in advance should I post my task?
It depends on the task. For best results, post 3-5 days ahead. The more lead time, the more student applicants you'll see.
How do refunds work?
If the task wasn't completed as agreed, request a resolution in the app within the stated window. We review and may issue a partial or full refund per policy.
Can I cancel or reschedule a task I posted?
Yes. Things change and the app makes it easy to reschedule or cancel. It's best to keep gigs on-time when possible, but we understand life happens.
What if I need to change details after posting?
Edit time, instructions, and price before the gig is accepted. After acceptance, request a change in chat or reschedule in the app.
What if the student is late or cancels?
Message them in the app. If they don't show, tap "Report a Problem" to reschedule, cancel without penalty, or request a replacement. We review all reports to keep students accountable.
Can I request the same student again?
Yes. Use the "Rebook" feature to request the same student for recurring or follow-up gigs.
How do I write a clear gig and set the right price?
Use the guided "Create New Task" flow. Include a clear description, expected time, tools provided, and your ideal schedule. The app suggests typical local price ranges as a default.
